Craig and Bruno’s Great British Road Trips

Series overview

Quickstep on the gas! Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli are exploring some of the country’s most iconic and best loved road trips in this brand new six-part series, as the two great friends leave the dancefloor behind to enjoy some spectacular sights around beautiful Britain.

Taking on six of the ultimate scenic routes, from Cornwall to the Cotswolds, the Yorkshire Dales to the Lake District, surprise petrol-heads Craig and Bruno are massive motoring enthusiasts and determined to make some memories.

Originally hailing from Australia and Italy, the pair have both lived in Britain for many years but travel around their adopted homeland has so far been limited to showbiz tours and demanding performance schedules.

So, each episode Craig and Bruno will immerse themselves in a different part of Britain. From the twists and turns of Cheddar Gorge, the brooding mountain roads of the Scottish Highlands, the sparkling waters of the Lake District, the captivating Cornish coast, magnificent Yorkshire Dales and the dizzying heights of the mountains of Snowdonia.

Featuring breath-taking scenery, fascinating stories, incredible adventures led by local experts and a shared passion for good food and spontaneous dance moves, this is a trip that promises to be as much about the journey as the destination.

Episode 5: Lake District

In episode five Craig and Bruno experience the very best of the Lake District as they take the scenic westward circuit from Kendal to Keswick. Heading through an everchanging landscape, they pass glacial lakes and breath-taking mountain ranges as they tackle some of UK’s most challenging roads.

Beginning in Kendal the pair head west, crossing Windermere by ferry, before making a pit stop at nearby by Coniston Water, cooling off from the drive with an exhilarating cold-water swim.

Skirting Scafell, Bruno takes the wheel as they face their most testing drive to date, traversing two back-to-back single track mountain roads; the tyre shredding Wrynose pass and England’s steepest road, Hardknott pass.

On safer ground, the pair get a real taste for historic Cumbria traveling north to Cockermouth where Craig is keen for Bruno to get to grips with one of the region’s oldest sports, Cumbrian Wrestling. But who will have the right moves and fancy footwork to impress the World Champion?

Turning south towards Scafell Pike, Craig drives Bruno past shimmering lakes before climbing up the Honister pass on route to the last working slate mine in the UK. Here the pair face their fear of heights in the form of the “Via Ferrata” infinity bridge, a high-wire walkway with a 1,000ft drop that straddles the old slate works.
