Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport

Series overview

Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport flies through the doors of the famous transport hub for nine brand new episodes to provide a vivid insight into the people who work there and travel through it.

Dame Julie Walters narrates as while Covid travel restrictions begin to ease, cameras continue to explore behind the scenes at the massive transport hub, giving audiences an exclusive look at how one of the world's most popular airports handles a worldwide pandemic.

Filmed over the last 12 months, with passengers trickling back into an airport dealing with new and ever-changing challenges, it's still business as usual at Britain’s busiest airport.

Episode 9

It’s been 13 years since Air Force 1 touched down at Heathrow, Britain’s Busiest Airport; back then 40,000 passengers were disrupted and they discussed the matter in parliament.

Tonight, although there may be fewer passengers disrupted by the visit, it’s still a huge deal logistically that Heathrow will be welcoming the President of the United States.

America is soon to open up to British holiday makers, but it’s Americans returning home that security officer Estafania is meeting, as she scrutinises the contents of their hand luggage as well as their face masks.

Meanwhile, out on the apron, Airside Ian has his hands full, literally, with his marshalling bats confronting new aircraft arriving onto his turf, one of which is heading into trouble.
