The ITV Academy has today announced its first-ever Production Finance Traineeship, which will offer entry-level roles to newcomers to television. The traineeship, which launches today, will offer six 12-month contracts to successful candidates, giving them access to on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced production accountants within ITV Studios.

This initiative is part of ITV Academy’s commitment to help tackle the skills gaps in TV production roles such as Production Accountants, Editors, Production Managers/Coordinators, Location Managers and Grips.

The ITV Academy Production Finance trainees will be at the heart of some of ITV Studios’ most iconic productions, learning the building blocks of all areas of production finance and having the opportunity to work on shows across Daytime, Entertainment, Continuing Drama and Factual. Applicants do not need to have a background in production finance or media to apply. Applications are now open and will close on the 9th of July 2023, with placements to begin in September 2023. Candidates can apply here.

The ITV Academy brings together new and existing initiatives across ITV, making it easier for existing production staff and those looking to join ITV to access training and development.

Donna Ferris, Head of Production Finance UK, ITV Studios UK said: “The career path for production accountants isn’t always clear so we’re reaching out far and wide across the UK, with this traineeship to open doors and invest in people for the future.”

Sonny Hanley, ITV Academy Director, said: “At its heart, the ITV Academy was set up to address the skills shortage. We know the business of making television requires skilled and trained accountants and we look forward to introducing newcomers into television and the world of finance.”

Other initiatives that have fallen under the umbrella of the ITV Academy since its launch include the ITV News Traineeship and the ITV Studios Continuing Drama Training Scheme. Through ITV Academy schemes, trainee make-up artists, runners, production secretaries and grips have been hired for Britain’s most watched soaps, Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
