ITV Triumphs With 10 National Television Awards - Mr Bates, Ant & Dec, I’m a Celebrity, Emmerdale and The Chase Amongst Big Winners

ITV dominated the victory slate at last night’s National Television Awards, scooping an impressive ten awards in categories across Drama, Entertainment, Serial Drama, Daytime and Documentary.

The globally acclaimed drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office (produced by ITV Studios and Little Gem), which attracted nearly 15 million viewers, won Best DramaBest Drama Performance for Toby Jones’ portrayal of the eponymous Alan Bates, and a special Impact Award for its powerful influence in seeking justice.

Ant and Dec meanwhile celebrated a 23rd consecutive win in the Best Presenter category, as well as a win in the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment category (presented by Holly Willoughby) for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! (produced by Lifted Entertainment, part of ITV Studios), which in 2023 became the most watched entertainment show of the year with 10.7 million viewers.

It was also a successful night for the soaps, both produced by ITV Studios, as Emmerdale triumphed as Best Serial Drama, and, just days after his heartbreaking exit from Coronation Street, Peter Ash was awarded Best Serial Drama Performance.

Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story (produced by Flicker Productions) was declared winner in the Best Authored Documentary category, marking Kate’s third documentary win, while The 1% Club (produced by Magnum Media), the biggest quiz show on TV with over 5.8 million tuning into its most recent series, was Best Quiz Game Show for the second year running. 

As the show celebrates 15 incredible years on air, The Chase stormed to victory in the hotly contested Best Daytime category. The Chase (produced by ITV Studios label Potato), remains the most watched programme in daytime, attracting 9.2 million viewers each week.

Additionally, Davina McCall, who next week returns to ITV1 and ITVX in a new series of My Mum, Your Dad, won the Special Recognition Award.

Last month, ITV was named Channel of the Year at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
