Series synopsis: 

Award winning actress, Brenda Blethyn dons her infamous mac and hat to play the unorthodox but brilliantly perceptive Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope, in two chilling feature length episodes set against the backdrop of the North East. 

Produced by Will Nicholson, these four new feature length episodes are a continuation of series eleven. The first two episodes entitled Witness and Recovery were broadcast on the main channel in August and September of 2021 and successfully drew an average audience of seven million viewers.
