Olly Murs surprises Inspirational Young Pride of Britain Award Winner

Olly Murs surprised Pride of Britain Award winner, Amelia Gebruers, with a special invitation ahead of Monday’s glittering event.

10 year old Amelia - who was nominated in the Young Fundraiser category at the annual awards show - has won the accolade for her inspirational efforts to raise money for brain tumour charity, The Butterfly AVM Charity, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The clip shows Amelia and her younger brother, Joshua, enjoying a day out at Madame Tussauds taking snaps with their celebrity idols. When posing next to their favourite popstar, Olly Murs, they were shocked to find him come alive and break the exciting news that she had won.

On meeting Amelia, Olly said: “It was an honour to meet Amelia, the fundraising she has done for a girl her age is absolutely incredible! She is a little star and I hope she has a great night at Pride of Britain next Monday.”

Amelia’s family was hit with a heartbreaking double blow when her little brother Joshua was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain condition just weeks before her father, Peter, was told he had a terminal brain tumour.

In the midst of family despair, Amelia decided to do something positive - by organising a charity auction and raffle at her school. After appealing for raffle prizes from her local area, Solihull based Amelia was inundated with donations and has gone on to organise a further two fundraising events and raise more than £20,000 for charity.

Amelia will receive her award at The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards which will take place on Monday and air on ITV at 8pm on Thursday 1st October.
