Susanna Reid returns in second series of ITV’s Save Money: Good Food
ITV has recommissioned Save Money: Good Food, from Crackit Productions, it was announced today.
The eight-part series, which aired in spring this year was the first primetime series fronted by Susanna Reid for ITV as part of The Save Money factual entertainment brand kicked off earlier this year with the first of a range of shows aimed at offering viewers an unmissable guide to smart and savvy household spending.
Fronted by Susanna Reid and Matt Tebbutt, Save Money: Good Food is back and this time with even more of a consumer bite.  The second series is currently in production with a further seven half-hour programmes for transmission in the autumn.
With research indicating most families don’t keep track of the true cost of their weekly shop, each episode aims to guide viewers on how to make their food, and therefore their money, go further. Susanna and Matt will offer top tips on how to be a smarter spender without compromising on quality or taste and prepare delicious, quick and simple meals every day of the week – at super low prices.
Viewers will see Susanna and Matt spending time with a different family each week, raiding their kitchens and even going through their bins to identify how they might be able to help them out. And over the course of the show, Matt will show how big savings can be made by cooking up delicious meals with some smart cooking and storing tips – the first using leftovers from what’s already in their kitchen, the second a main and a super cheap but super tasty pudding, culminating with a big three-course blowout feast, saving money but never scrimping on taste.
With Matt Tebbutt taking charge of the cooking, Susanna will investigate the latest food consumer stories and unpack what’s worth spending on and what’s not. Plus the super cheap taste test returns - which products will come out on top in the battle of the super cheap supermarkets and can the winner overthrow the market leader on taste and value? Money saving tricks, smart shopping and savvy cooking tips – Save Money: Good Food aims to save everyday families money by avoiding food waste and creating delicious, tasty meals for a fraction of the cost. This is the essential guide to how to eat like a king without breaking the bank.
Commissioned by Priya Singh, Commissioning Editor at ITV, and Sue Murphy, Head of Factual Entertainment, Save Money: Good Food will once again demonstrate cooking advice along with a wealth of money-saving tips alongside a wide range of recipes which will be available for viewers via the ITV website.
Crackit Productions Creative Director, Elaine Hackett, added: “We were thrilled with the nation’s reaction to the last series. It really captured the appetite of viewers who want to save money but not compromise on taste and quality.
“We are delighted to be working with Susanna again with her mischievous sense of humour, natural inquisitiveness and no nonsense journalistic approach to finding low-cost, tasty ways to feed the family.”
