Sky Bet Sunday Series returns for fourth year

The £1.3m Sky Bet Sunday Series is delighted to announce the return of the £60,000 Jockey Cup and a new charity partner in Cure Leukaemia.

The Jockey Cup will again offer a total of £60,000 of prizes across the six fixtures in the Series, with the jockey amassing the most points at each fixture scooping £10,000.

The Series is delighted to welcome its new charity partner, Cure Leukaemia, which will put their name to the Jockey Cup and also one race at each of the six fixtures.

Jockey Joanna Mason said: “I’m really looking forward to this year’s Sky Bet Sunday Series. It’s been a great initiative with all the different bonuses that are available. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a winner or two over the six meetings!”

The £100,000 bonus, which saw Derry Lad and Blow Your Horn unsuccessfully going for a third win at the final fixture of the 2023 series, returns and is on offer to the connections of the first horse to win three races across the Series.

Ian Williams, trainer of Blow Your Horn, said: “The Sky Bet Sunday Series went right down to the wire last season and we were fortunate enough to be in contention for the £100,000 bonus – but sadly it wasn’t to be. There are very generous incentives for the participants, especially stable staff and jockeys, and we’ll definitely be considering another crack at it this year.”

Cure Leukaemia is welcomed as the new charity partner and its Chief Executive, James McLaughlin, said: “We're so pleased to be a part of the Sky Bet Sunday Series. The national recognition that the Sunday Series will provide the charity is invaluable and funds raised will help to continue funding Cure Leukaemia Research Nurses across the country to support our Trials Acceleration Programme and the global impact we can make with clinical trials and treating blood cancer patients.”

Stable Staff will have the opportunity to win cash prizes, with a total of £15,000 (£10k, £3k, £2k) to be paid out to the stable staff of the first three trainers in the Series. In addition, Sky Bet will once again kindly sponsor and offer £250 for the Best Turned Out in each race.

The Series is an industry-wide collaboration between ITV, Racecourse Media Group, Sky Betting and Gaming and the participating racecourses, which will showcase the sport in a Sunday twilight slot on terrestrial television during the summer.

The schedule for the 2024 Sky Bet Sunday Series is:

· Musselburgh 21st April

· Newmarket 19th May

· Hamilton 2nd June

· Thirsk 16th June

· Haydock Park 4th August

· Pontefract 18th August
