Argentina's Mariano Galarza given nine week ban for eye gouging

The Argentinian lock who was cited for foul play against New Zealand has been handed a nine-week ban.

Mariano Galarza, who has been capped 25 times for the Pumas, was called up by Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) for eye-gouging in the clash at Wembley on Sunday and will now miss the rest of the tournament.

Following the news of Fiji's Dominiko Waqanburotu's week-long ban for a dangerous tackle on England's Jonny May, Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) has announced that Argentina lock Mariano Galarza had been cited for an alleged act of foul play during the Pumas' Pool C encounter against New Zealand at Wembley on Sunday.
