Surviving 96% burns

On 16 April 2013 Catrin Pugh, 20, was pulled from the wreckage of a burning coach. Ninety-six percent of her body was burnt, with only the soles of her feet and some areas of her scalp escaping the flames.

Catrin was rushed to hospital where she was put into an induced coma, and given odds of just 1,000 to one to survive. But Catrin remained in a coma for three months, undergoing an incredible 200 operations and procedures, and slowly her odds of survival began to increase.

Now, just over a year on, Catrin has made remarkable progress; learning to walk, talk and feed herself once again. She is the only adult in the world to survive 96 percent burns.

Catrin joins us now, together with Ian James, the surgeon who has performed much of her surgery, to share her incredible story.
