Is the 'Countryside Code' exactly what's needed, or a step too far?
We’ve all been shocked by the scenes of green spaces and parks left looking like tips, following a tsunami of rubbish left by a small minority of those enjoying the recent hot weather.
A new countryside code has called on these litter louts to be more respectful of our green spaces (and also say “hello” to each other more frequently!).
Julia Bradbury, who is helping lead the ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ campaign, is a supporter of this new code, and is calling for these litterers to be hit with the hardest fines. Whereas Janet Street-Porter is outraged at this patronising code, and says she doesn’t plan on smiling or saying hello to anyone.
