Meet the sisterhood of carers

We go where they are and be with them

June, Sheila and June do not correct their husbands when they forget something

A documentary tonight highlights the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.

A group of women who bonded over their partners' dementia and shared highs and lows are June Mellors, June Aiken and Sheila Winterton. Each wife's tale of love and commitment to their husband, as they battled the disease is truly inspirational, with snatched moments of clarity from their husbands proving to be the light in their daily travails.

Their commitment to their partners turned into a solid sisterhood when they met at a day centre. The three women have come to depend on each other throughout the difficulties of dementia and prove their is light even in the darkest of days.

The ladies stick together and credit their great support network for keeping them happy: "We need to laugh about the situation or you'd sink."
