Nurses threaten to strike for first time in 106 years

The Royal College of Nursing is balloting all of its UK members for strike action for the first time in its 106 years history.

It is recommended that their 300,000 members walk out over pay after calling for a rise of 5% above inflation rate.

Speaking on This Morning, Vanessa Feltz said: "It is a case of them feeling like they have absolutely no alternative. How many years have we and everybody else been discussing nurses pay? It only really hits home when heaven forbid you're ill or someone in your family or someone you love is ill and you see what they do. It had to come to this."

Nick Ferrari argued: "Let's use the threat of strike action as the absolute last resort as I do think it might dent public sympathy."
