Yes parenting: The debate

The issue of how to bring up your children is a contentious subject. Last week the head of schools' inspection body Ofsted issued a checklist of what two year olds should be able to do by the time they start school. The guidelines included being able to sit still and listen, understand the word no, and be able to open and enjoy a book. All clear guidance for parents you would think - but some of criticised it for being too formal for children at such an early age.

Mum of two Bea Marshall has become well known for allowing her two boys a free-for-all lifestyle - they can stay up late, choose not to do their homework, draw on the walls and even swear! Parenting expert Liz Fraser however believes you must say no to your kids - and thinks Ofsted are absolutely right.
