Why can't all girls wear trousers to school?

I'm not some kind of radical revolutionary who wants to flout the rules, but what I do want is a set of rules that reflect current life

Pamela Pattman

Yesterday The Times reported on a band of mothers nationwide who have been fighting school bans on their daughters wearing trousers, and thousands of pages on Mumsnet are now filled with the same debate.

Back in 2000 one school was forced to change their policy to avoid a legal battle, so why is the debate still raging in the year 2015? Boys are allowed to wear them, so why can't girls wear trousers to school too?

Pamela Pattman talks about leading a campaign to allow girls to wear trousers to her daughter's school. She is joined by headmistress Christine Cunnife, who enforces a ban at her school, and Claire Hale, who successfully campaigned to overturn a trouser ban at her daughter's school in 2000.
