To mask or not to mask? Are face coverings still necessary?

In England, the legal requirement to wear a face covering ended in July, but journalist Kate Mulvey believes this has created a two-tier society.

Kate received her booster jab last week, and complied with mask-wearing when it was mandatory, but says certain friends and colleagues now avoid her as she no longer chooses to wear a face covering.

With experts failing to agree on their effectiveness, Kate believes that continued mask wearing in a vaccinated society plays into the fear factor, and will keep us in an eternal state of panic mode.

But Dr Nighat doesn’t agree, and says the continued use of face coverings is what we need to keep the virus at bay.

They both join us to discuss the issue dividing the nation.
