Bertha is making humming tops. There is a competition for an unusual toy and Mr Sprott and Tracy design a singing and dancing doll.

Bertha is making cuckoo clocks. In the office Miss McClackerty, the secretary is sorting out some old files and discovers that today is in fact, Bertha’s birthday! Bertha is oiled, polished and spruced up and given the day off by the Manager.

One night two burglars break into the factory to steal the wages from the office safe.

One night two burglars break into the factory to steal the wages from the office safe. Moving around in the darkness, they accidentally trip and switch on Bertha who becomes 'alive' to what is happening.

Bertha produces weird and wonderful shaped springs out of twangy steel.

The Big Order

Mr Willmake, the Manager, has received a big order for special springs requiring twangy steel. Trying to move the steel becomes a big problem because every time Roy and TOM try to move it, it becomes alive with vibrations.

Bertha is making garden gnomes and has to defend herself against Mr Duncan.

Bertha is making garden gnomes. Mr Duncan the works foreman is doing a Time and Motion study. Ted objects and Mr Duncan defends himself with what he calls conclusive proof that Bertha should be replaced.

Bertha is making Jack-in-the-boxes. Several are faulty and Roy and Tom have to chase the springing jacks around the factory floor. Mr Sprott designs a humane mousetrap but the mouse is too smart to get caught.

Bertha is making windmill money boxes. Roy and Nell test the new product and watch with delight as the sails of the windmill turn and play a tune. However when they want to retrieve their coins they discover that there is no key to unlock the box.
