Jackson Brodie is a private investigator. A former soldier and policeman he now makes his money working from investigating infidelity and finding missing cats.

Jackson runs early in the morning and can’t help but run past his ex-wife’s home where he sees the To Let sign. As he runs back to his car on the coast he see's a body in the sea.

Jackson finds a battered body but is his assumption of who the killer is correct?

5. When Will There Be Good News (Part 1)

Outside the city Jackson is investigating his latest case. He has been employed by Gary Moore to find out if his wife is having an affair. It should be a simple case, but as with everything in Jackson’s life nothing is ever straightforward.

Jackson sleeps restlessly in a police cell. He dreams of seeing his sister Niamh in the sand dunes, of the train crash of his daughter, Marlee and Louise saying goodbye to him.
