DCI Sam Tyler's world is about to be turned upside down. Moments after his girlfriend and colleague, Maya, is kidnapped by a serial killer, Sam is knocked unconscious by a car and wakes up - in 1973.

Episode 2

Sam's dogged pursuit of evidence brings him head to head with his DCI, Gene Hunt, as the team arrests an elusive criminal high on the CID's wanted list.

Episode 3

At the hospital in 2006, doctors worry that Sam is losing the will to live. Meanwhile, in 1973, Sam is investigating a fatal stabbing in a converted mill which is strangely familiar...

Episode 4

Sam calls into question the ethos of his whole department when he takes on a local gangster. But does he realise the full consequences of this fight? And can Gene lay to rest a ghost from his past?

The death in custody of small-time drug dealer Billy Kemble pits Sam against the whole of CID as he tries to uncover the truth of what happened in the cells.

Episode 8

As the team investigates a murder linked to a crime syndicate, Sam is finally accepting the world of 1973 and believes that he can deal with anything it throws at him... until he comes face-to-face with his 29 year old father, that is.
