Episode 1

When a young woman is admitted with a brain tumour, Monroe has to help her to decide whether or not to undergo surgery that could change who she is.

Episode 2

Monroe finds himself in freefall as he struggles to accept that his wife has left him. At the hospital, Monroe and Bremner have a double shooting on their hands.

Episode 3

Monroe takes a controversial decision to avoid surgery on a man with a blood clot in his brain. Bremner is tempted to break her own rule about remaining detached from her patients.

Episode 4

Monroe finds that divorce is much harder than he imagined. At the hospital, he tries to convince an epileptic man to have an operation that would stop his religious hallucinations.

Episode 5

When Sally Fortune collapses, Monroe is faced with the prospect of operating on a colleague. And as he helps Anna build a new life, is he giving up on his marriage too easily?

Episode 6

A girl is admitted after a road accident but Monroe holds out little hope of saving her. Competition between the trainees intensifies before the assessments.
