Episode 1

Paris, 1899. The French President’s death in the arms of his mistress Meg Steinheil weakens the Republic and Police chief Lépine is urgently recalled to office.

Episode 2

Meg starts spying for Puybaraud, the head of La Sûreté, the French criminal investigation department, and infiltrates the Guérin family.

Episode 3

Jouin has fallen in love with a young woman, Jeanne, a qualified lawyer who cannot practice because she is a woman. She agrees to help the young inspector with the Berger case.

Episode 4

At La Sûreté, all efforts are being made to solve the Joséphine Berger case and Meg is becoming increasingly aware of the dangerous game she’s playing.

Episode 5

Meg has fallen for an intelligence officer Gabriel Sabran, but evidence is piling up against him in Joséphine Berger’s murder investigation. It makes Meg a very damaging witness.

Episode 6

Sickened by the way the Berger investigation is being run and by Puybaraud, Fiersi has broken with the superintendent. He gives Jouin a crucial bit of information.

Episode 7

As Mother Guérin finalises the coming riots and orders Louis to kill the Police Chief, Lépine receives unexpected help from the anarchists. Fiersi is still on the run.

Episode 8

Lépine, a seasoned strategist, has defeated Guérin and his men. However, Puybaraud, waiting in the wings, could benefit most from the clash, and become the new prefect.
