During the Cold War, ex-smuggler Harry Palmer is enrolled as a reluctant but talented spy. Harry embarks on a dangerous undercover mission in Berlin.

Episode 2

In spite of his grumpiness, Major Dalby sees potential in Palmer, particularly on a matter of national security. But when Jean's life is threatened, can Harry act quickly enough?

Harry and Jean are in Beirut to pursue Randall - Jean is unusually quiet, and Harry refuses to take her gun. Elsewhere, Dalby holds a secret rendezvous.
