Janet Grogan: 'Seeing Simon again was like bumping into an ex'
You know that feeling when you bump into an ex after a good few years? Well, that's exactly how Janet Grogan felt when she stepped back in front of Simon Cowell on Saturday night's X Factor.
Janet famously made it to the Six Chair Challenge back in 2014, but Simon had a change of heart, and booted her from the show in favour of Lizzy Pattinson.
Simon has since admitted that he made a huge mistake - and he was glad to see Janet audition back in front of the Judges' panel.
But it took Janet a great deal of strength to get up there and prove herself for a second time - especially in front of Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne, who weren't on the panel when she first auditioned.
Asked how she felt being back in front of Simon, Janet said: "It's like when you see an ex after a really long time. But it was more pleasant than I thought it was going to be. I was a little bit worried that he wouldn't remember who I was... but then, when I walked in the room he remembered exactly who I was, so that was nice!
"I was more nervous about Sharon and Nicole, because they'd never seen me before."
Janet's audition has since clocked up over 300,000 views on YouTube - and it's growing everyday.
So, how does she feel about all this attention? "I'm surprised by the reaction," she said. "A lot of people said they were glad I came back.
"It has taken me two years to come back - because I wanted to be ready first - and it was worth it, I haven't seen any bad comments about my performance!"
Janet works as a lifeguard in Ireland, and admits the kids who come in for their swimming lessons get a little starstruck when they see her by the pool.
She added: "All the kids who come for swimming lessons are all really excited. They get quite shy!"
The X Factor is back Saturday night (September 10) on ITV!
