Louis' backing singer history exposed and the THAT heart breaking sing-off.
Well, The X Factor: Celebrity on Saturday night didn't disappoint, did it?! Sing-off drama, THAT shade from Try Star's Thom and Jenny inspiring us ALL with that fantastic speech.
Here’s how the night played out…
Kevin's been in the Judge's good books for the last 5 weeks, but was as he taking too much of a risk singing Dua Lipa's latest hit 'Don't Start Now'? Simon certainly seemed to think so. Kevin is a babe in our eyes, everyone has an off week, but Louis used his Safe Seat wisely and saved our American boy.
Max & Harvey
BMXs, napkins and lots and lots of fog were the ingredients for TikTok star's Max & Harvey's Safe Seat-winning rendition of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' hit, 'Can't Hold Us'. Without a doubt, they blew the ceiling off with that performance and seeing Harvey epically playing the drums really topped it off perfectly. Yes, boys.
Legit can watch Vinnie Jones sing and dance all day long. Honestly, Nicole putting Madness and Vinnie together was a genius move. We didn't know we needed to see dancing Gorillas on stage along to 'One Step Beyond' with him, but we're glad we saw it. He 100% deserved that Safe Seat from Nicole, and we can't wait to see what he does this week. Who knows, he might have a full Zoo up with him.
After a last-minute song change, Try Star treated us to a live rendition of the track that launched them as a group, Blackstreet's No Diggity'. Yeah, we've seen it before, but you know what, more than anything it showed just how far these boys have come as a group. We liked the way they re-worked it.
But we just HAVE TO talk about that shade Thom threw at Louis. If you missed it, let's break it down right now:
LOUIS: "We love them, but we've heard it before!"
THOM: "With all due respect you’ve been a backing singer to Simon most your life.”
We hope Louis applied ointment because that burn must have hurt.
We were ready and waiting for V5's incredibly motivational mega mix of Normani's 'Motivation' & Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin's 'I Like It'. Long story short, we without a doubt liked it like that! Fantastic performance as ALWAYS coupled with on fleek choreography.
Here is he! Martin went off and licked his wounds after forgetting the words to 'Easy' on national television last week. Ever the professional, he dusted himself off and came back with his head held high. He sang Ol' blue eyes, Frank Sinatra's infamous 'That's Life' and you know what, we think it was Martin's most confident performance yet. We would fly to the moon with Martin, no doubt about that.
Our Adele in training, Megan McKenna came back with a stellar original song 'Half My Heart' which she went all the way to Wales to write, bless her. Hitting every note, both physically and metaphorically, gained Megan the praise she more than deserved from the Judges. We're pretty sure we saw a tear from Simon, but the jury is out on that one.
No Love Lost
After remixing Charles & Eddie's 'Would I Lie To You', No Love Lost came bouncing back bigger than ever with their reet banger of an original track 'Money Where Your Mouth Is'. Not gonna lie, it made us want to party like it was 1999.
Mum-mum-mah! Watching Jenny Ryan completely distance herself from the big ballad sound we know her for, and taking on pop kween Lady Gaga's 'Edge of Glory', had us beaming from ear-to-ear like proud parents. From her crowd-surfing antics to her incredibly inspiring speech telling everyone to be extraordinary, Jenny cemented herself as royalty, well and truly. YAS QUEEN.
*cue sad music*
The results came in and, sadly after Simon's house in L.A and two Live shows, the curtains were closed on Martin's Bashir's time on X Factor: Celebrity. It's been an honour being on this journey with Martin, and we're incredibly happy to see him going out on a high with such a classic performance.
Then the gloves came off. The first X Factor: Celebrity sing-off was revealed to be between groups V5 & No Love Lost! V5 brought the juice by performing Lizzo's, err, 'Juice'. AND THEN No Love Lost clapped back with Joe Corry's 'Sorry'.
It was then up to the Judges to decide who stayed and who would go.
Louis voted to save V5 and so did Nicole which meant No Love Lost were going home! AND THEN Simon threw a spanner in the works, as he revealed that there's going to be a vote to bring back fan favourite acts who were sent home! AHHHH!
So this may not be the last we see of No Love Lost on The X Factor: Celebrity!
