Louisa Johnson: “It’s crazy how much can happen in a year”
Last year’s X Factor winner Louisa Johnson has revealed it feels “crazy” that the show is back on air this weekend, offering her advice to the fresh batch of hopefuls wanting to follow in her footsteps.
Seeing as it’s been a year since Louisa wowed the Judges with her version of Who’s Loving You at her first audition, the 18-year old was in a reflective mood when we asked her how much things have changed since she stepped on to that stage.
“It’s crazy how much can happen in a year”, Louisa said. “I never thought I’d be where I am today, it’s such a great platform. It has taught me so much and although there were tough times, they made me a lot stronger and able to cope with the real world.”
Sharing her own words of wisdom for this year’s acts, Louisa said: “I think my main advice is go in determined and stay true to yourself, because there really is no one like you!”
With her mentor Rita Ora stepping down from Judging duties this year, Louisa confessed she “can’t wait” to see returning panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne in action, stating: “It’s going to be weird watching it from home, I think the panel is going to be fun too!”
Louisa went on to add that if she had to pick a mentor from this year’s line-up she’d go with Nicole because she “used to love watching her on the show”, before stating: “She is hilarious!”
Following the release of her collaboration Tears with Clean Bandit, Louisa went on to tease her debut solo LP, claiming: “My album is kind of like an insight into the music I listen to as a person.
“There’s a lot of different styles of songs on there, maybe some that are quite unexpected. I can't wait for everyone to hear it.”
Naming fellow X Factor winners Little Mix as her inspiration behind the album because of their “confidence”, Louisa said: “I have met them briefly a few times and they are so lovely and work so hard. Not to mention they are incredible performers.”
Finally, when asked whether she’s selected her next single, Louisa teased: “We’re in the process of picking it right now! It’s exciting stuff - we’re nearly there!”
We can’t wait to hear it! Who will follow Louisa and be crowned this year’s winner? The search begins tomorrow, Saturday 28th August, at 8pm only on ITV!
