Rita Ora talks Grimmy, Meghan Trainor and picking her Girls
Rita Ora has defended her pal Nick Grimshaw after ex-Judge Louis Walsh said Simon made a bad choice in adding him to the line-up.
Speaking of Louis’ comments, Rita revealed: “I think someone is just a little bit burnt that they lost their job. It’s okay, Louis. I will rub your feet if that makes you feel better. It’s men. It’s egos.”
And, when it comes to rumours of Walsh coming back as a Fifth Judge, Rita said: “That won’t make any sense. Who is he going to mentor? We all have our people.
“Look, I know Grimmy. I know him personally. And he is a hard worker and he has great taste and great ears. Yes, he may not physically be able to stand on stage and sing a song. But you don’t need to nowadays. He is one of the important hands that plays the songs that you get played on the radio.”
She continued: “You don’t understand how important, as an artist, that is. Being a manager is fine too, Louis. But the reason that someone can hear your song is like, f**king, you have the hands of god right there.
“For me as an artist I would rather impress the DJ that can play my music to the public than a manager. That’s my thing.”
As well as getting on with Grimmy, Rita went on to praise her fellow Judges Cheryl and Simon, stating: “Cheryl has been doing this for long enough now that she knows the right words to use. I’m still learning a lot from her. Like the terminology. And you’ve got Simon who is like god!”
And, when it comes to her Guest Judge Meghan Trainor, it seems fans may be seeing them together on a track soon.
Rita explained: “Yeah we just listened to some song in the car. We were writing stuff in the car. It’s the only time we get to do work! In her new Range Rover – Bouji! I can’t drive, but we were listening to some songs and we just came up with an idea and we’re going to record it.”
Watch this space! Finally, when it comes to picking her final three Girls, Rita already knows it’s going to be super tough.
She admitted: “It’s already an achievement being in the top six. You know how many people we saw. F**king hell! So many people. To be in the last six of the whole nation is already a huge achievement. And it’s not the end. I am thinking to myself that I have to remember that. It’s not the end for them.
“I was in and out of deals three times. It was all just behind closed doors. I already know the ones who will take it badly.”
Eek! We can hardly wait to see who Rita selects tomorrow! Make sure you tune in at 7.30pm to find out…
