Former Kitten & The Hip singer Scarlett Quinn saw her X Factor dream come to an end on Saturday night after forgetting the words as she fought for a place at judges' houses.

The 28-year-old, who originally auditioned with her husband Ashley but then went solo, could only remember the first line of Duran Duran's hit Ordinary World.

Judge Simon Cowell told her to carry on but the mum-of-one could not pull it together.

The judges had been impressed with her previous two performances but Cowell, who is mentoring the over 28s category this year, said he could not take her through to the next round.

More successful acts tonight were Croydon van driver Ben Haenow who brought the house down with his verison of the Eagles' Hotel California.

And 20-year-old Italian student Andrea Faustini moved Mel B and Cheryl to tears with his rendition of Whitney Houston's I Didn't Know My Own Strength.

Cheryl will mentor the girls category this year, Mel has the boys, while Louis will look after the groups.
