Family 'heartbroken' after body found in hunt for missing teenager Kayleigh Haywood
The family of Kayleigh Haywood have said they are "heartbroken" and "devastated" after a body believed to be that of the missing teenager was discovered by police.
Police searching for the missing 15-year-old found the body in undergrowth near a lake in Ibstock, Leicestershire, at around 10pm on Wednesday night.
Kayleigh, from Measham, had not been seen since about 6pm on Friday November 13, when she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College in Central Avenue.
Bouquets and messages have been left near the scene of where the body was recovered as well as purple ribbons - Kayleigh's favourite colour.
Among the tributes was one which said: "Heaven gains another angel too early."
Another said: "Thinking of you all through the most difficult times. Sleep tight angel, may the place you be now, a kinder one."
A third was addressed to Kayleigh's family and friends and said: "May you find comfort in the love you are surrounded by at this awful time. May the angels look after your baby girl."
An online fundraising page has been set up for the family and has so far raised more than £2,500.
Leicestershire Police said formal identification of the body is yet to take place and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
