The British Olympic Association revealed the 71 sportsmen and women who will take part in track and field - among them nine athletes from our region.

Going for gold in the track events will be Bedford's Nigel Levine. The sprinter will be going in the 400m and the 4x400m.

Middle distance runner Andrew Osagie, originally from Harlow, will hope to follow in the footsteps of Seb Coe as he competes in the 800m.

Milton Keynes is sending two homegrown field stars as Greg Rutherford competes in the long jump and Mervyn Luckwell takes part ion the Javelin competition.

St Neot's Robbie Grabarz has been selected to compete in the high jump, while rounding out the men's selections is Colchester's Dominic King who competes in the 50k walk.

In the women's team, Kings Lynn's Barbara Parker will double-up in the 5000m and 3000m Steeple Chase. Newmarket's Goldie Sayers will compete in the Javelin.

The eight athletes join Bedford's Paula Radcliffe, who had already been selected to compete in the marathon.
