Ogogo fights for semi-final place

Tonight (Monday 6th August) Lowestoft boxer Anthony Ogogo fights for a semi-final place in the men's middleweight. He faces Stefan Hartel of Germany.

The 23-year-old has a great chance of winning a medal, especially after beating Levgen Khytrov in his last fight. The Ukrainian is ranked number one in the world in the amateur ranks.

It has been an emotional time for Ogogo outside the ring. His mum Theresa is recovering from a brain haemorrage after falling ill six weeks ago. He thought about pulling out of the Olympics ahead of his first bout, but was persuaded to fight on by his sisters.

Leanne, his older sister, also gave birth to his nephew Sonny just after that opening fight, which he won against Junior Castillio of the Dominican Republic.
