Homes left without power after car crashes into electricity pole and catches fire in Whittlesey

Dozens of homes were left without power for several hours after an electric car crashed into an electricity pole and caught fire.

The crash happened on the B1040 Ramsey Road between Whittlesey and Pondersbridge in Cambridgeshire yesterday evening.

In a social media post, Fenland Policing said the driver sustained slight injuries. The road was closed for hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Around 35 properties were left without power as a result of the crash.

UK Power Networks said they managed to restore electricity around 4.20 am this morning.

In a post on its website they said, "We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you."
