Weather for the new week across the ITV Border region

Icy stretches develop from the north on Sunday nightduring the early hours. Mainly cold, but dry for the new week. In fact, we could be in for a protracted cold spell - no milder weather for the foreseeable future.

Sunday night:

Showery rain will move away south through the evening with clear spells developing during the early hours. A few showers will return later across Galloway with some snow on the higher hills. Fresh or strong westerly winds, easing overnight across the eastern Borders. Minimum Temperature 1 °C.

Monday:

A dry day across most parts with sunny spells. A few showers will move down across Galloway, falling as snow over the hills. Winds turning northwesterly and easing. Maximum Temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Staying quite cold through the week with good sunny spells by day and frosts by night. A few wintry showers will affect Galloway and eastern Borders at times.
