A war veteran who had his life savings stolen says he is overwhelmed after at the public's generosity after nearly £6,000 was donated to an appeal in his name. Jack, from Leeds, was robbed of £3,700 the day before his eighty-third birthday and the reaction of the public has left Jack, who was saving the money for his own funeral, with "no words".

Jack Walker, who is from Leeds, served in the Coldstream Guards for twelve years. He also told our reporter, Sarah Clark, of his shock at discovering he had been robbed.
