Cannabis plants with estimated street value of £1.2m found at disused Darnall social club

Cannabis plants worth an estimated street value of £1.2m have been seized after a raid by police at a disused South Yorkshire social club.
Around 1,200 plants were found at the make-shift cannabis factory off Greenland Road at Darnall today Tuesday 14 July 2020 .
Another 50 plants were also found at a house on Annesley Road in the Greenhill area . It was all part of Operation Fortify which has been set up to tackle serious organised crime across the county.Sergeant Dan Wilson said that while no arrests were made the warrant was important in the force's continued efforts to gather intelligence around where such set ups are located. DI Shields added: “By disrupting the commercial production we are delivering a blow to the criminal networks involved in organised crime not just in Sheffield, but South Yorkshire more widely.”
