Three dead puppies dumped in bags on roadside

Police are appealing for information after three dead puppies were dumped in carrier bags next to a road in South Yorkshire.

The French bulldogs were found on an embankment in a layby on the A616 in Wortley, Barnsley.

South Yorkshire Police said the animals, which were blond in colour, are believed to have been left there overnight.

Forensic tests are being carried out to try to determine where they came from.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
