Bradford man jailed after speeding incident leaves teenager missing a leg

A man who drove at more than 100 miles per hour through Bradford seriously injuring a teenage boy has been jailed.

Mohammed Khan, 25 from Bradford was arrested after hitting a teenager on Halifax Road in the city, where he was caught on CCTV driving more than three times the speed limit.

The collision in September 2024 left the 17-year-old boy with life changing injuries and the loss of his leg.

Khan fled the scene before removing the number plates from his Mercedes A45 and arranging for the car to be moved and hidden.

He has been sentenced to three years and four months behind bars and banned from driving for five years and seven months.

Inspector Claire Gray from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit said: “This case shows that dangerous driving can lead to catastrophic results.

“People need to understand that speed limits are there for everyone’s safety and to blatantly ignore this is unacceptable.

“Our Roads Policing officers are committed to identifying and taking action against those who put themselves and other road users at risk.

"We all have a part to play in making our roads safer. That means making sensible decisions when driving and never putting a moment of excitement or a social media post ahead of the safety of yourself or somebody else.”
