A bride from Birmingham gave her groom the surprise of his life on their wedding day, when she organised for a replica Ghostbusters car to pick him up to take him to their ceremony.

Emma Pittaway wanted to give her fiancé a special treat for their wedding day, and she knew who to call.

For self-confessed nerd Stoo Pittaway, 33, there was one film that defined his childhood, and he says he was thrilled when the white Cadillac rolled up.

The car was hired from a company in the Black Country to take Stoo from the city centre to the wedding venue in Digbeth – catching the eye of passers-by along the way.

“We had people waving at us, people driving past using their video cameras,” Stoo said.

The wacky vehicle fitted perfectly with the theme of the big day.

The car, painstakingly restored by Sedgley-based Paul Harborne, is one of a number used for the second Ghostbusters films.

It’s become a hit with couples seeking unconventional wedding transport, whisking brides and grooms to ceremonies 54 times last year.

The West Midlands vehicle is the only Ghostbusters car in the UK and is often booked two years in advance.

Worth upwards of £200,000, the car has taken Paul and his business partner Tim Jordan to weird and wonderful places – the strangest being a Cineworld event, where the car was one of a number of exhibits.
