Today is the national launch of the Pride of Britain (POB) Awards.

The awards recognise everyday people and celebrate the bravery and brilliance of those who display true grit and determination to work tirelessly to support charities.

While celebrities attend one of the biggest events in the showbiz calendar, it is the real people who are the stars of the show.

Each year, two fantastic fundraisers get to represent our region at an awards ceremony in London, and are even in with a chance of winning the overall ITV Regional Fundraiser of the Year award.

Last year, the West Midlands winner was Asha Ali Rage who founded Dream Chasers FC in Small Heath. She was named as a Special Recognition winner for her work keeping young people away from gang violence and knife crime.

The East Midlands winner was John Bell from Huthwaite, in Nottinghamshire who won the Fundraiser of the Year award for his work raising awareness around mental health, and suicide prevention.
