Rapist whose crimes spanned for more than two decades sentenced to 13 years by Jersey Royal Court

A rapist who abused a woman from Jersey has been jailed for 13 years by the islands Royal Court.
Jose Rodrigues Camacho, 51, was found guilty of six counts of rape and one indecent assault following a seven day trial which took place in November 2024.
The victim provided a complaint to the police in April 2023, where she disclosed several sexual assaults that spanned more than 20 years.
He was charged with the offences in February 2024 and appeared before the Magistrate’s Court the same month, where he was released on Court bail.
The officer in charge of the case, Detective Constable Carla Garnier, says: "The States of Jersey Police would like to commend the victim and witnesses in this case, for both coming forward and having the courage to stand up in court and give their evidence.
"We work with our partner agencies to support the victims of these crimes and seek to bring perpetrators to justice."
