Minister calls for new prime minister to 'take the lead' on the Northern Powerhouse

It's five years since the former chancellor George Osborne launched the project he called The Northern Powerhouse.

But, as we've already reported the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham says the Government had since gone back on its promise to invest more in the north, and put an end to the north-south divide.

Well, today one of the Government's leading figures was in our region visiting the Graphene Innovation Centre at Manchester University.

Our Political Correspondent Hannah Miller was there to hear if the Northern Powerhouse is still - to use the modern phrase - ''a thing'':
