Twelve fire engines are at the scene of a large fire at the Golden Triangle Industrial Estate in Harrison Street, Widnes.

Crews arrived at 9pm on Thursday 27 June to find the fire had spread to four industrial units.

A 300m cordon has been established for safety, with people living near the estate being evacuated from their homes.

One casualty, a man, has been given first aid by firefighters before being handed over to the care of paramedics.

Residents living nearby are being urged to keep their windows and doors shut as a precaution - because the fire is generating a large amount of smoke.
