Daughter of Titanic hero pays tribute at Liverpool commemoration event on 113th anniversary

A woman, whose father survived the tragedy of the Titanic, says the "screams of the night stayed with him for years."
Jean Legg has been reflecting on her father's experiences at a convention in Liverpool which was held this weekend to mark 113 years since the sinking of the ship.
Ms Legg's father, Sydney Daniels, was a trainee steward on board when he was just eighteen years old.
On the night that tragedy struck, he was "sound asleep" when he was "suddenly woken up by banging and shouting."
It was the watchman who was trying to raise the alarm on the captain's orders.
Sydney was ordered to keep calm and not to create panic as he "woke people up" and told them to dress warmly and put on lifejackets.
Ms Legg said her father - whose heroic actions that night helped to save dozens of lives - didn't speak much of what happened. She thinks this is partly because of the British stiff upper lip but also because of the "trauma of it."
"It hid in the back of his mind because he said the screams of the night stayed with him for years.", said Ms Legg.
"He actually saw the liner sink... and that sight stayed in his mind for years."
Jean Legg joined hundreds of enthusiasts and historians in Liverpool this weekend - which is where the ship was registered - for the annual convention, hosted by the British Titanic Society.
And although Titanic never visited the city - the words inscribed on her stern proclaimed it to the world: Titanic was a Liverpool ship.
As part of the commemorations, a ceremony was held to remember all those lost at sea, including more than 1500 people who died when the Titanic sank on her maiden voyage on 14th April 1912.
This weekend saw several events to mark the 113th anniversary, including a memorial wreath laying ceremony in front of the Liver building and an exclusive maritime memorabilia valuation event.
