Police appeal after petrol bomb thrown at house with three children inside

Police are appealing for information after a suspected petrol bomb was thrown at a house which had three children inside.

Officers were called by the fire service at a property on Birch Hall Lane in Longsight, Manchester just after 9pm on 5 February 2025.

Greater Manchester Police believe a dark blue Seat Ibiza drove by the address and threw the suspected petrol bomb towards the house.

Emergency services attended and the fire was put out.

No one was injured but the fire caused extensive damage to the property.

Detective Constable Samuel Cullen said: “Fortunately, no one was injured during this thoughtless attack.

“There were three children present in the address at the time, and the consequences could have been dreadful.

“I understand the concern that this will raise within the local community, I can reassure residents that we are investigating this crime with all resources that are available to us.

“If you saw anything suspicious on Birch Hall Lane at 9:25pm, or anyone with any information, is encouraged to call 0161 856 6247 quoting log 3389 of 05/02/2025.
