Man arrested outside Wirral hotel on suspicion of inviting support for banned terrorist organisation

A man has been arrested on suspicion of inviting support for a proscribed (banned) terrorist organisation following a protest outside a hotel.
People began arriving at the hotel in Hoylake, Wirral at around 5pm on Thursday 31 July with police outside the entrance of the hotel.Two separate groups gathered outside the hotel with a police presence keeping them apart. One woman at the front of the protest was wearing a "Free Tommy Robinson" t-shirt and waving two Union Jack flags.The two groups were on opposite sides of the entrance with banners and flags.
On one side a poster reads "No More immigrants. We are full." with several Union Jack flags and on the opposite side, "Hoylake rejects hate" and "Refugees welcome."Around 40 counter-protestors were outside the hotel with a message displayed saying "no excuse for racism" and "stop the far right" printed on posters.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police has said that a 25-year-old man from the Sefton, was arrested on Thursday 31 July at around 6.45pm on suspicion of inviting support for a proscribed (banned) terrorist organisation.
He remains in police custody for questioning.Earlier this week, Reform UK and the Conservatives both issued letters claiming that asylum seekers would be put into the hotel.David Burgess-Joyce, the Chairman the Wirral Branch of Reform, claimed "undocumented, illegal male immigrants" are staying in the hotel.Councillors Max Booth, Tony Cox and Andrew Garden said that relocations of "single males" would begin this week.
