Southampton woman seriously injured by suspected drug driver

An 87-year-old woman from Southampton is in hospital after being hit by a suspected drug driver.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision involving a car and pedestrian yesterday (January 11).

It happened just after 1pm outside the parade of shops on Rownhams Road, Southampton, where it was reported a green Dacia Jogger car collided with the woman.

She suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

A 35-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

He has been released under investigation while Police enquiries continue.Detectives would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, the moments leading up to it or the aftermath, including anyone who has dash cam or CCTV footage.
