Strong winds and gales forecast across North East
The Met Office has issued weather warnings for the public to "be prepared" as strong winds and heavy rain cause problems across the North East.
Gusts may reach gale force, which could mean flooding in places.
The worst weather is forecast over high ground, including the Pennines and Cheviots, and along the coast.
Surface water and winds of up to 80 miles per hour are making driving conditions difficult. Drivers in parts of the region faced disruption and delays on the morning commute.
