Man dies after overnight fire in Co Down

A man in his 60s has died following a house fire in Poyntzpass.

The fire broke out at the property in the Greenan Road area in the early hours of Wednesday 26 February.

Police were notified of the fire shortly before 4.30am.

The fire service extinguished the blaze but, sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing but the death is not believed to be suspicious.
