More than 340 new jobs created at technology company to help meet artificial intelligence demand

More than 340 new jobs are to be created at the technology company Kainos over the next three years to help meet customer demand for artificial intelligence (AI).

The new roles are across software engineering, platform and data engineering, AI and data science, architecture, product and Workday consulting.

There will also be roles in delivery, design and business support.

The jobs have an average salary of £58,000.

Most will be located in Belfast with 32 positions based in Londonderry.

Kainos said the investment will allow them to "do more for customers as they put AI to work".

The company, based at Crescent Gardens in Belfast, employs more than 3,500 staff across Europe and North America.

It was established in 1986 and opened its second office in Derry in 2011.

Invest NI has provided £1.5 million towards the creation of the jobs.

Chief Executive of Kainos, Brendan Mooney said: “This expansion reflects growing customer demand for our AI digital transformation services across the public, health and commercial sectors.

"By investing in our people, including 200 early career roles alongside these experienced positions, we will be able to do more for our customers as they put AI to work."

The Economy Minister described the creation of the jobs as a "strong vote of confidence in our growing tech sector and the highly skilled people who work here".

Caoimhe Archibald said the expansion highlights how "businesses can scale, innovate and create rewarding careers for local talent, with AI driving new high-value job creation across the economy".

"It also demonstrates the breadth of the AI opportunities emerging across our sectors, with strong local expertise and companies helping to boost productivity and support long-term economic growth.”
