Six children saved by coastguard team in ‘major incident’

Six young children have been rescued by Port Talbot Coastguard Team after they got into 'serious difficulty' in the sea.

The 'major incident' happened Sunday, 24 August at around 8.30pm in the sea off the slipway at Aberavon Beach, Port Talbot.

The Coastguard Team were made aware of the report from a member of the public.

Coastguard Rescue Officers (CROs) were immediately on scene, deploying a throw line to bring three children safely ashore.

They then entered the water to bring the remaining casualties to safety.

All six children were taken to the Coastguard station, where emergency casualty care was carried out. They were then transferred to ambulance services for further medical evaluation.
