A Wiltshire monument thought to have been vandalised actually suffered a structural failure.
Police received reports of the Poppy sculpture in Royal Wooton Bassett being damaged overnight.
Officers say they have investigated the issue and viewed CCTV provided by the local town council.
They say footage shows there was no crime and the damage was actually caused by "a catastrophic structural failure" early this morning.
The Council is now making the area safe and people are being asked not to approach the statue.
Royal Wooton Bassett & Cricklade Police shared the CCTV footage on social media.
